How did you get into ballooning?
A family member was starting a ride operation about when I was born. My mother would take us along to chase the balloons and even go to balloon rallies on weekends. Since my youth I have had the balloon bug.

Where’s the coolest place you’ve ever been ballooning?
That is a very tough question. There are so many things that make balloon flights uniquely cool. Flying in Lake Havasu City is amazing, with some of the coolest people you will ever meet.  Also seeing the geysers of Yellowstone from my balloon in Teton Valley, Idaho was incredible.  Flying amongst other balloons in various balloon rallies is a cool experience as well.

Any tips for first time passengers?
If you have a question, please just ask!  We pilots are there to guide the balloon through a safe, wonderful journey, but we are also there to see that you have a good time.  If we can help you do that in any way, we will.

What’s one thing you hope passengers take away from their ballooning experience with you?
Amazing memories.  Flying in a hot air balloon is a unique experience and it is something that should be cherished.  Take lots of pictures and even videos but be sure to take a moment and soak the whole experience in before it is over.

You wake up at an ungodly hour, how do you get going?
Just knowing that there is a chance of flying usually has me up and about before the alarm clock even goes off.  Knowing that the day potentially holds my favorite flight ever is also plenty of motivation to start the day a little early with a smile on my face.

What can we find you doing in your spare time?
Hiking or hanging out with other balloonists.

Ballooning is on many Bucket List’s, what’s on yours?
More ballooning!  I would love to be able to travel the world and see it from above in a balloon.
