Prepping for your Flight

9

Your reservation is made, date and time set, now what?

Check out these tips to make the ballooning experience most enjoyable, and get ready to soar up, up and away!

Attire
Comfortable, casual clothing is always recommended on our ballooning excursions, as we are enjoying nature in a desert environment. The temperature in the balloon is about the same as on the ground, so dress appropriately for the day’s anticipated temperatures.
On any given day, we recommend:

  • Closed toe shoes
  • Hat
  • Light jacket
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Camera

Photos
Your hot air balloon flight provides many opportunities for excellent photographs and video, so be sure to bring your camera, selfie stick, GoPro –  your photo method of choice!  Our flight crew and pilots are more than happy snap pictures of you, using your camera, in the balloon both before take-off and in the air.  In preparation for landing, be sure all photo equipment is properly protected and stowed away, as Hot Air Expeditions is not responsible for damage that occurs during your expedition.

Restrooms
Our tours take place in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, and unfortunately nature does not provide a restroom. Our launch and landing sites vary from day to day dependent upon the winds, typically in remote parts of the desert. While there are usually abundant trees and bushes, there are no restroom facilities available during your trip.

Cuisine
We are known for our outstanding food service catered by the award-winning Vincent’s on Camelback. Our menu is pre-selected and can be found here. Vegetarian and gluten free meals are available with a 24 hour advance notice. Champagne, orange juice and bottled water will be provided with your cuisine upon landing in the desert. Bottled water is always available
in-flight.

Special Occasions
If you are celebrating a Birthday, Anniversary, or other special occasion, please let us know 24 hours in advance and we’ll plan a special celebration for you!

Health + Safety
In order to participate in a hot air balloon flight, you should be in good general health and not be pregnant. Landing can sometimes be bumpy, similar to jumping off the second or third rung of a ladder. You will be required to sign a medical statement of good health and a waiver of liability prior to your flight.

Cancellation Policy
A 48-hour notice is required to cancel your reservation without penalty.  If you cancel within 48 hours, no-show or show up with fewer passengers than reserved, your credit card will be charged for the full amount.

Oh, and we forgot to mention, HAVE FUN!

But first…let me take a selfie

Selfie Stick 2One of our favorite things about ballooning are the amazing views we catch from thousands of feet in the air!  Both breathtaking and awe inspiring, it never seems to get old, whether it’s your first time up, up and away, or your twenty first.  Ripe with saguaro cacti and palo verdes (Arizona’s State Tree) the clear skies and mountainous views of the gorgeous Sonoran Desert are unparalleled.  And with the occasional quail, roadrunner, javelina and wild burro spotting, we are always entertained.

That being said, we can’t think of a better place to take a selfie!  It seems Instagram user @g_ivanbascon agrees :).  It’s not every day we get a photo like this, but we absolutely love it.  So come aboard, selfie stick and all, and check out the Sonoran Desert from a whole new vantage point with us!  And don’t forget to share your photos and memories, we live for that stuff!

Have a fun memory to share? A breathtaking selfie? Suggestions on how to improve our operation? Send them over to Info@HotAirExpeditions.com.  We’re all ears!

In the meantime, visit us on Instagram for a daily dose of ballooning fun straight to your newsfeed at @BalloonsAZ (http://www.instagram.com/BalloonsAZ).  Take a fun photo of your own? Use #HotAirExpeditions and your pictures will be live streamed to our website! Check out our friends who have already hopped on the bandwagon here: http://www.hotairexpeditions.com/instagram.php
